NDLEA Uncovers Massive Drug Cache Across Seven States

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has intensified its crackdown on illegal drug activities, leading to the seizure of tonnes of cannabis and various other narcotics across seven states in Nigeria. This operation reflects the agency's commitment to combat drug trafficking and its associated societal challenges.

In a significant operation in Kano's Sabon Gari area, NDLEA operatives apprehended a 20-year-old individual named Saidu Adamu, who was found in possession of a staggering 785,000 capsules of Pregabalin, a controlled substance often abused for its psychoactive effects. The drugs weighed a total of 669.425 kilograms, underscoring the scale of the trafficking operation.

Across the nation, the NDLEA has been proactive in its efforts, conducting raids and intelligence-led operations that have led to the arrest of numerous suspects and the seizure of various types of drugs, including cannabis sativa. These efforts are part of a broader strategy aimed at reducing drug abuse and ensuring public safety, as the agency faces increasing pressure to address the drug crisis affecting communities.

“Our operations are relentless, and we will continue to pursue and dismantle drug syndicates across the country,” stated an NDLEA official, emphasizing the agency's resolve in the fight against drug trafficking.

The NDLEA’s latest successes come amid growing concerns about the rising rates of drug abuse in Nigeria, particularly among the youth. With the ongoing operations, the agency hopes to deter potential traffickers and reduce the availability of illicit substances in the market.
