APC Secures Victory in Kano Assembly Bye-Election

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has successfully won the recently held bye-election for the Dawakin Kudu/Warawa State Constituency in Kano State, marking a significant victory for the party. Hussaini Yusuf Datti emerged as the candidate of choice, amassing a total of 22,890 votes, a clear indication of the party's stronghold in the region.

In a stark contrast, the opposition parties struggled to make an impact, with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) receiving only 180 votes, followed closely by the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) with 270 votes. The Action Peoples Party (APP) and the Labour Party (LP) fared even worse, securing 53 and 39 votes respectively. These results underline the APC's dominance in the political landscape of Kano, particularly in this constituency.

This bye-election was necessitated by the vacancy left in the Kano State House of Assembly following the election of Shuaibu Rabiu Nagoggo to the House of Representatives. Nagoggo's advancement came after the passing of Alhaji Muhammad Hassan, who had represented the Dawakin Kudu/Warawa Federal Constituency until his death on April 10, 2026. His demise not only affected the federal constituency but also prompted a reshuffling of political representation at the state level.

“The results reflect the confidence the people have in the APC and its leadership,” said a spokesperson for the party. “We are committed to delivering on our promises and ensuring continued development in the region.”
