Tricycle riders in the state have expressed their support for the re-election of Governor Mbah and President Tinubu, following the governor's decision to extend operational hours for tricycles to 10 PM. Additionally, the governor has abolished the previous daily fee imposed on tricycle operators, aiming to alleviate their financial burdens.

In a significant move for the transportation sector, tricycle riders, commonly known as 'keke' operators, have publicly endorsed the re-election bids of Governor Mbah and President Tinubu. This endorsement comes on the heels of a new policy that extends the operational hours for tricycles from the previous 8 PM closing time to a more accommodating 10 PM.
The announcement, made by Governor Mbah, aims to enhance the livelihood of tricycle operators, allowing them to maximize their earnings during peak evening hours. In a further measure to support these operators, Mbah has abolished the contentious N750 daily fee that was previously levied on them, citing the need to ease the financial pressures faced by those in the transport sector.
Governor Mbah's recent policy changes have sparked a wave of gratitude among the keke riders, who see this as a positive step towards recognizing their contributions to the local economy. One keke operator remarked,
“This extension will allow us to work longer hours and earn more for our families. We appreciate the governor for listening to our concerns.”
As the 2027 elections approach, this endorsement from the keke operators could be a crucial factor in determining the political landscape within the state, particularly as the operators represent a significant voting bloc. Governor Mbah's decision to eliminate the daily fee is also viewed as a strategic move to solidify support among this influential group.
Political analysts suggest that these developments may play a pivotal role in shaping the outcome of the upcoming elections, as the support from the keke riders could influence public sentiment and voter turnout. The governor's proactive approach in addressing the needs of tricycle operators demonstrates a commitment to improving the socio-economic conditions of the citizens.
