At a presidential campaign rally in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, President Bola Tinubu raised pointed questions about former Vice President Atiku Abubakar's financial integrity, specifically regarding the funding for his university. Tinubu accused Atiku of potentially misusing public resources for personal gain, urging the electorate to seek clarity on the matter.
During the rally held at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, Tinubu expressed gratitude to Governor Siminalayi Fubara for his adept management of local political challenges. He called upon Rivers residents to reaffirm their support for his administration, promising that they would not regret their decision to renew the mandate given to him and Vice President Kashim Shettima.
Critiquing opposition politicians, Tinubu defended his administration against allegations of economic mismanagement, particularly regarding the rising cost of living. He stated, “Those people, talking of hunger, are clearly the mess they created. Atiku was one of them,” implying that the current hardships are a consequence of previous administrations he had been a part of.
In addition to targeting Atiku, Tinubu acknowledged the contributions of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, praising him as a reliable ally in his governance. As the 2027 presidential elections approach, these exchanges reflect the charged political atmosphere as candidates position themselves for the contest.
