Tamunosoye Karibi-George Shines in Miss World 2026, Finishes in Top 12

Nigeria's representative at the 2026 Miss World pageant, Tamunosoye Karibi-George, made her mark by finishing among the Top 12 contestants during the grand finale of the 73rd edition of the prestigious event held at the April 2 Square in Nha Trang, Vietnam. The competition concluded with Joheirry Mola Dominguez from the Dominican Republic taking the crown, marking a historic moment for her country as they celebrated their second Miss World title, the first being in 1982 with Mariasela Álvarez.

Mola's victory comes after she succeeded Thailand’s Suchata “Opal” Chuangsri, who held the title for the previous year. Following her, Spain’s Elisabeth Reynés Alabern was named the first runner-up, while Malaysia’s Taanusiya Chetty earned the title of second runner-up. Chetty was also honored with the Beauty with a Purpose award, recognizing her impactful social work.

Karibi-George, affectionately known as Soye, showcased her talent and determination throughout the competition, having previously secured an automatic place in the Top 40 after winning the Africa Top Model title at the Vietnam Beauty Fashion Fest. She triumphed over contestants from countries such as Botswana, Equatorial Guinea, Kenya, and South Africa to earn her continental title, which propelled her into the Miss World competition.

After advancing through several stages, including reaching the Top 20, Karibi-George's journey concluded in the Top 12 alongside contestants from Brazil, France, the Philippines, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. Despite not making it to the final Top Six, her achievement is a testament to her hard work and the growing recognition of Nigerian beauty queens on the global stage.
