Aminu Lamido, son of former Jigawa State Governor Sule Lamido, has vehemently denied the serious allegations of money laundering and bribery that have been leveled against him and his father. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is currently prosecuting the Lamido family in connection with an alleged N1.35 billion financial misconduct case.
The EFCC's charges against the Lamidos include accusations of involvement in financial transactions that violate the provisions of Nigeria's anti-money laundering laws. As the case unfolds, Aminu maintains his innocence, emphasizing that the allegations are baseless and politically motivated.
“These accusations are a smear campaign against our family; we are committed to clearing our names in court,” Aminu stated during a press briefing.
Former Governor Sule Lamido, who has a history of political prominence in Nigeria, has also faced scrutiny over his tenure and business dealings. The prosecution’s case is expected to unfold in the coming weeks, with both father and son determined to refute the charges and restore their reputations.
The ongoing legal battle not only highlights issues of corruption and accountability in Nigeria but also raises questions about the influence of political families in the country's governance. As the EFCC continues its investigation, the Lamido family remains at the center of a high-profile case that has drawn significant public attention.
