Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has made a bold pledge to secure a minimum of 50 percent of the state's votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the forthcoming 2027 general elections. This commitment was announced during the flag-off event for the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) campaign at Ekwueme Square in Awka, where Soludo declared the party's endorsement of Tinubu as its preferred presidential candidate.

Soludo highlighted that APGA currently lacks a presidential candidate for the 2027 elections, which prompted the party to adopt Tinubu as its candidate. He stated, “Today, we adopt the APC presidential candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu as our candidate,” emphasizing the president’s dedication to the interests of the Igbo people, particularly those from Anambra State. The governor noted that Tinubu's previous tenure as Lagos State governor saw the appointment of several Anambra indigenes to key positions, showcasing his commitment to the region.

Reflecting on past elections, Soludo expressed concern over the disappointing turnout for Tinubu in Anambra during the 2023 presidential election, where he received fewer than 5,000 votes. Despite this, Soludo praised Tinubu for his ongoing efforts to address various challenges faced by the state and the broader South-East region. He urged the electorate in Anambra to rally behind the president, reinforcing the notion that support for Tinubu aligns with the historical political arrangements between APGA and the ruling party.

“We must ensure that our voices are heard in the 2027 elections, and supporting Tinubu is a step towards our collective progress,” Soludo urged, calling on Anambra residents to embrace this political partnership.

As the political landscape evolves ahead of the 2027 elections, Soludo's declaration underscores the significance of Anambra's votes and the strategic alliances that may shape the outcome of the presidential race.
