In a move aimed at enhancing economic empowerment among women, Vice President Kashim Shettima officially launched a business support fund in Katsina State, targeting the financial upliftment of over 40,000 women. This initiative, part of the Nigeria for Women Programme Scale-Up, is designed to provide essential business capital that will help women establish and expand their enterprises, contributing to the overall economic growth of the region.

During the launch, Governor Dikko Radda highlighted the state’s commitment to women’s empowerment, announcing that Katsina has already contributed over N4 billion to the programme. In a further display of support, the government approved an additional N4 billion, showcasing a robust investment strategy aimed at fostering female entrepreneurship and reducing poverty levels among women.

The Vice President emphasized the importance of empowering women as a catalyst for national development. “When women thrive, families thrive, communities thrive, and ultimately, the nation thrives,” Shettima stated, reinforcing the government’s dedication to improving the socio-economic status of women across Nigeria.

“This is not just about financial support; it is about creating an ecosystem where women can thrive in business, contribute to their families, and uplift their communities,” Shettima added.

This initiative is part of a broader strategy by the Nigerian government to tackle gender inequality and enhance women's participation in the economy. By providing targeted financial resources, the programme aims to dismantle barriers that women face in accessing capital and business opportunities.
