Heavy rains over the past three days have resulted in severe flooding along the Agbarho/Ughelli Road in Ughelli North Area of Delta State, leading to significant disruptions in traffic and stranding numerous commuters. The flooding has particularly affected the road near the Agbarho Police Station, rendering this vital route nearly impassable for vehicles and creating considerable hardship for those reliant on it for travel.

As the rain continued unabated, many motorists found themselves forced to navigate challenging detours, with rising water levels cutting off parts of the road. Commuters traveling between Agbarho and Ughelli reported being stranded, and the situation has ignited calls from the local community for immediate action from construction giant Julius Berger Nigeria Plc. to maintain and improve alternative routes around Otovwodo.

The consequences of the flooding have been dire, as traffic congestion has worsened, impacting not just motorists but also commercial transport operators and pedestrians. Local resident Francis Sadhere expressed the frustrations of many, stating, “We were stranded. The depth of the water was much, and the difficulty of getting through was not an easy one.” Another road user, who identified himself as Tony, echoed similar sentiments, highlighting the urgent need for solutions to the ongoing crisis.
