Senator Oluremi Tinubu Empowers 500 Women in Ebonyi State

ABAKALIKI — Senator Oluremi Tinubu, the wife of Nigeria's President, has taken a bold step towards empowering women in Ebonyi State by distributing vital items to 500 indigent women. This initiative aims to support these women in establishing new businesses or enhancing their existing enterprises, thereby fostering economic independence and resilience within the community.

The empowerment items included essential equipment such as deep freezers, gas cookers with ovens, power generators, and industrial grinding machines. Represented by Mrs. Mary-Maudline Uzoamaka Nwifuru, the wife of the Ebonyi State Governor, Senator Tinubu emphasized the program's broader goal—empowering a total of 18,000 women across Nigeria, with 500 beneficiaries selected from each state and the Federal Capital Territory.

“This presentation is taking place across the five states of the zone simultaneously. This programme has been made possible through the Office of the SSA to the President on Sustainable Development Goals,”

Senator Tinubu remarked during the event. The initiative kicked off in February 2025 in Abuja for the North-Central zone, followed by distributions in the South-South and South-West zones in subsequent months. Each phase of the program has been strategically designed to ensure equitable empowerment across the regions.

This empowerment scheme not only addresses immediate economic needs but also aims to instill a sense of self-reliance among women in Nigeria. By equipping them with the necessary tools to succeed, the program seeks to enhance their livelihoods and contribute positively to their communities. As the initiative unfolds, it is expected to create a ripple effect, inspiring further investments in women's economic empowerment throughout the country.
