Ogun State Police Launches School Protection Squad Ahead of Academic Year

As public and private schools across Ogun State gear up for the commencement of the 2026/2027 academic session, the Ogun State Police Command has initiated a significant security measure by deploying its School Protection Squad statewide. This strategic move is designed to bolster safety for pupils, educators, and community members within school environments, thereby ensuring a secure learning atmosphere.

The deployment aligns with the strategic policing agenda set forth by the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, emphasizing a proactive, preventive, and community-oriented approach to policing. According to the police, this initiative will not only focus on securing school infrastructure but also on gathering actionable intelligence and providing rapid responses to emerging security threats.

In a statement from the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, it was revealed that the Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, CP Bode Ojajuni, recently met with an executive delegation from the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) Safe School Club. The meeting, held at the Command Headquarters in Abeokuta, emphasized the importance of collaboration among police, school authorities, parents, students, and community stakeholders in the early identification and prevention of security issues.

“This initiative is crucial for fostering a secure environment in our schools. We must work together to ensure that any potential threats are identified and addressed promptly,” stated CP Ojajuni during the meeting.
