North-West Governors Advocate for Security Funding at UN General Assembly

At the ongoing 81st United Nations General Assembly in New York, governors from Nigeria's North-West region have unveiled the Northwest Peace, Security and Development Framework 2026–2030. This ambitious initiative is designed to tackle the pressing security challenges and foster sustainable development within the region, which has been grappling with violence and instability.

The framework was presented to a diverse audience of development institutions and potential investors at a side event of the UNGA, emphasizing the urgent need for financial backing to implement its strategies effectively. “Our region is at a crossroads, and with your support, we can turn the tide against insecurity and create pathways for development that benefit all our citizens,” stated one of the participating governors during the presentation.
