Nigerian Police Force Celebrates UN International Day of Police, Showcases Significant Achievements

The Nigerian Police Force (NPF) marked the UN International Day of Police with a ceremony that underscored its achievements in enhancing public safety through international collaboration. The event showcased the NPF's successful partnerships with INTERPOL and various National Central Bureaus (NCBs), which have yielded significant results over the past year.

According to data released during the event, the NPF's efforts from 2025 to 2026 led to the arrest of over ten fugitives, alongside more than five international extraditions and handovers. These actions not only demonstrate the NPF's commitment to upholding the law but also highlight the critical role of global cooperation in combating transnational crime.

“Collaboration is key to our success,” stated the Inspector General of Police, emphasizing how joint operations have improved the efficacy of crime-fighting efforts.

Furthermore, the NPF reported that its initiatives during this period resulted in the rescue of over sixty victims of trafficking and kidnapping, showcasing its dedication to protecting the most vulnerable members of society.
