NDC Prepares to Launch Presidential Campaign with Key Appointments by Obi and Kwankwaso

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) is making significant strides towards the establishment of its Presidential Campaign Council, a vital step as the party gears up for the upcoming elections. In a recent announcement, the party confirmed that its presidential candidate, Peter Obi, along with his running mate, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, will have substantial authority in selecting key positions within the council, ensuring that their vision and strategies are effectively represented.
In a statement released by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director Esq, it was revealed that Obi and Kwankwaso have been engaged in extensive consultations with the NDC's National Leader, Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, and other senior party officials. These discussions have included the preparation of a comprehensive campaign structure, which was finalized in August and subsequently shared with both candidates for their input.
“The party leadership has given a free hand to the presidential candidate and his running mate to make nominations,”
the statement read. This flexibility allows Obi and Kwankwaso to appoint principal officers such as the Director-General, Deputy Director-General (North), and various financial roles, thereby streamlining the operational aspects of the campaign.
The NDC's approach emphasizes transparency, particularly in the management of campaign finances. The party has outlined that funds raised for the campaign will be deposited into a dedicated presidential campaign account, which will be overseen by officers nominated by Obi and Kwankwaso. This strategy not only aligns with the requirements set forth by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) but also aims to build trust with the electorate as the party prepares for a competitive electoral landscape.
