The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has firmly rejected allegations suggesting that former Bayelsa State Governor, Seriake Dickson, is involved in a scheme to sabotage the electoral ambitions of Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso ahead of the 2027 general elections. These claims, which have circulated in various political discussions, were described by the NDC as unfounded and misleading.
In a statement issued by the party, NDC officials emphasized that Dickson has consistently demonstrated his loyalty to the party and its candidates. The assertion of his collusion with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is viewed as an attempt to create discord and undermine the unity of the opposition ahead of a critical election period.
“Seriake Dickson has no intentions of working with the APC or any other party to undermine our candidates. His focus remains on strengthening the NDC and ensuring that we present a formidable challenge in the upcoming elections,”
the statement read. The NDC's leadership believes that such narratives are strategically crafted to distract from their campaign efforts and to mislead voters about the integrity of their candidates.
As the 2027 elections approach, the NDC is ramping up its efforts to consolidate support among its base and to present a united front against the ruling party. The party's response to the allegations against Dickson is part of a broader strategy to quell internal dissent and reinforce its commitment to the electoral process, ensuring that all members are aligned with the party's objectives.
