In a significant display of commitment to fostering local content and economic development, the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) and DMG Events engaged in strategic discussions with the Bayelsa State government on Tuesday. The meeting, held at the Government House in Yenagoa, was led by the Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State, Peter Pereotubo Akpe, who welcomed the collaboration aimed at enhancing the region's participation in the oil and gas sector.

The collaborative effort is part of the preparations for the forthcoming PNC 2026, a pivotal event that seeks to address pressing issues in Nigeria's energy sector while promoting local content development. NCDMB's Executive Secretary, Simbi Wabote, emphasized the importance of partnerships with state governments to achieve the board's mandate of developing a sustainable, indigenous oil and gas industry.

“Our engagement with the Bayelsa government is crucial as it aligns with our vision to create opportunities for local participation in the oil and gas industry,” Wabote stated during the meeting. This initiative is expected to bolster economic growth in Bayelsa, which is rich in oil and gas resources but has historically struggled to convert this wealth into local benefits.

Moreover, the partnership will facilitate various activities leading up to PNC 2026, including workshops, exhibitions, and training programs designed to empower local businesses and professionals in the sector. The Deputy Governor echoed the sentiment, noting that such collaborations are essential for leveraging Bayelsa's natural resources for the benefit of its citizens.

As the countdown to PNC 2026 begins, both NCDMB and DMG Events are optimistic that their strategic initiatives will not only enhance local participation but also attract greater investment to Bayelsa, ultimately contributing to the state's economic resilience and sustainability.
