Local hunters in the Doguwa Local Government Area of Kano State have successfully neutralized two suspected kidnappers and recovered a ransom of ₦10 million that was paid for the release of a kidnapped man. The operation unfolded in Falgore Forest, where the hunters ambushed the suspects shortly after they collected the ransom for the release of 45-year-old Kabiru Aliyu, who had been held captive since September 11, 2026.
According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the kidnappers emerged from their hideout around midnight to collect the ransom when they were confronted by the hunters, known locally as Yan Bula. “During the ambush, two of the suspected bandits were neutralised, while the third suspect managed to escape with injuries,” Kiyawa reported. The swift action of the local hunters highlights the growing community response to the menace of kidnapping in the region.
The police further disclosed that the recovered ransom was found intact on the deceased suspects. One of the suspects, identified as Dogo Isah, was reportedly a commercial motorcycle rider from Maigwanda Village in Kaduna State. The police are currently pursuing the third suspect who fled the scene, as investigations continue to shed light on the broader network of kidnappers operating in the area.
This incident underscores the resilience and proactive measures taken by local communities to combat kidnapping and banditry. The successful intervention by the hunters not only led to a significant recovery of ransom but also ensured the safe return of the victim, further demonstrating the vital role of community vigilance in addressing security challenges.
