Kanyinsola Ajayi Makes History with Diamond League Bronze Medal in Brussels

In a historic achievement for Nigerian athletics, 21-year-old Kanyinsola Ajayi has won the bronze medal in the men's 100m at the Diamond League final held in Brussels, making him the first Nigerian to reach the podium in this prestigious event. Ajayi clocked an impressive 9.97 seconds, finishing behind Jamaica’s Oblique Seville, who won gold with a time of 9.90 seconds, and Cameroon’s Emmanuel Eseme, who secured silver at 9.93 seconds.

This remarkable feat is a fitting culmination of a breakthrough season for Ajayi, who has emerged as one of the world’s fastest sprinters. Earlier this season, he shattered the longstanding Nigerian record in the men's 100m, setting a new benchmark at 9.84 seconds.
