JAMB Releases UTME Results for Underage Candidates, Clarifies Admission Eligibility

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially released the results of the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) for underage candidates, a move aimed at providing transparency to candidates and their guardians regarding examination performance. This announcement was made in Abuja by Dr. Fabian Benjamin, JAMB’s Public Communication Adviser, who underscored the importance of understanding the results in the context of their implications for future academic pursuits.

Dr. Benjamin clarified that the results, while available for viewing, do not automatically guarantee admission for underage candidates—defined as those under 16 years of age as of September 30, 2026. He stated, “The release of these results is intended to help candidates and their parents gauge their performance; however, it is critical to note that only those who meet our stringent criteria for exceptional consideration will be eligible for admission.”

To check their results, candidates can send “RESULT” to either 55019 or 66019 using the same SIM card they registered with for the UTME. This process is designed to ensure that candidates have easy access to their results while also reinforcing the Board's commitment to maintaining the integrity of the admission process.

JAMB has reiterated its position that only exceptionally performing underage candidates who fulfill specific requirements will be considered for admission. “Candidates who do not meet the requirements for exceptional consideration should refrain from presenting their results to any educational institution or individual,” Dr. Benjamin advised, emphasizing the importance of adhering to the established guidelines to avoid complications in the future.
