Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has taken decisive action to address the deteriorating state of roads across Lagos by directing the Lagos State Public Works Corporation (LSPWC) to commence immediate reconstruction and rehabilitation efforts. This initiative comes as the dry season presents an opportune time for roadworks, aiming to improve the infrastructure that is vital for the state's connectivity and economic activities.

During a recent inspection of ongoing projects, Engr. Tokunbo Ajanaku, the General Manager of LSPWC, highlighted the focus on the Oshodi-Isolo Local Government Area. Key roads slated for reconstruction include Godwin Omonuwa Road, Taiwo Street, Salamotu Street, Peter Agah Street, and Ibeh Street. Ajanaku emphasized the importance of these roads, stating that they serve as essential links for residents, traders, and business owners who rely on them daily.

“Their reconstruction will not only improve mobility but also reduce transportation costs, enhance road safety, boost commercial activities and create a more conducive environment for businesses and residents,”

Ajanaku noted that this initiative is part of a broader strategy to address infrastructure deficits across the state. Other ongoing projects include rehabilitation efforts on Ogunnusi Road in Ojodu Local Council Development Area, Awolowo Way in Ikeja, and various streets in Shomolu. The governor's proactive measures are expected to yield significant improvements in the quality of life for Lagosians as well as facilitate smoother trade and transportation.
