Geometric Power's Aba Initiative Transforms Electricity Supply Landscape
The Aba Integrated Power Project is revolutionizing electricity access in Aba, Abia State, offering unprecedented reliability to both businesses and households. This $900 million investment aims to alleviate the burden of chronic power shortages that have plagued Nigeria's industrial sector for decades.

For years, Nigeria has grappled with an unreliable electricity supply that has stunted its industrial growth and burdened its citizens with high operational costs. Major cities like Kaduna, Kano, Lagos, and Onitsha have witnessed the decline of various industries, from textile mills to vehicle assembly plants, due to persistent power shortages. However, the tide is turning in Aba, Abia State, where Geometric Power's Aba Power distribution network is providing a transformative energy solution.
The Aba Integrated Power Project, spearheaded by Geometric Power, represents a significant shift in how electricity is delivered in Nigeria. With an investment exceeding $900 million, this initiative is enabling local businesses, institutions, and households to enjoy a more stable and affordable electricity supply. As a direct result, manufacturers in Aba are experiencing uninterrupted production cycles, traders are extending their operational hours, and families are benefiting from reduced reliance on expensive petrol and diesel generators.
“Our services are for all people, regardless of class or status. Electricity is a fundamental right of the Nigerian people, and we are happy to provide reliable and affordable electricity to all our customers,” said Professor Barth Nnaji, Chairman of Geometric Power.
Nnaji emphasized the company's commitment to ensuring that electricity access is equitable, stating that the Aba project aims to serve everyone in the community, irrespective of their socio-economic status. As businesses begin to thrive under this new paradigm of reliable power, the implications for economic growth and development in the region are profound, potentially positioning Aba as a leading commercial hub in Nigeria.
This remarkable development not only addresses the pressing issue of electricity access but also sets a precedent for future investments in Nigeria’s energy sector. With the success of the Aba Power distribution network, other regions may look to replicate this model, paving the way for a more robust and resilient national power grid.
