The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, has taken a firm stance against illegal beer parlours in Asokoro, directing security agencies and the Department of Development Control to dismantle these establishments immediately. This action is a response to alarming security intelligence suggesting that such unauthorized relaxation points could serve as potential hotspots for criminal activities.

During a high-level security meeting with the FCT Commissioner of Police and the Director of the Department of State Services (DSS), Wike emphasized the urgency of the situation. He stated, “We have been told of some security threats originating from somewhere leading towards Asokoro, where some individuals are attempting to establish unauthorized beer parlour businesses. We will not allow that. There is no such approval, and we will not permit it.”

Wike's directive aims to preemptively address any security issues before they escalate, showcasing the FCT administration's commitment to maintaining law and order in the capital. He mandated that the Department of Development Control, in collaboration with security agencies, initiate immediate action to clear the affected areas. “We have directed Development Control, in conjunction with security agencies, to go and chase them away before we begin to have security problems. We will not allow that at all,” Wike reiterated.

Furthermore, the minister stressed the importance of communicating these decisions to the public, underscoring the administration's proactive measures to safeguard residents. Wike's actions reflect a broader strategy aimed at ensuring that Abuja remains a safe and orderly environment for all citizens.
