Emergency Response Underway Following Building Collapse in Abuja

In a concerning development, a three-storey building located in Wuse Zone 4, Abuja, collapsed on Monday evening at approximately 7:00 p.m. The incident has prompted swift action from emergency responders, including officials from the FCT Fire Service who are currently on-site to assist with rescue operations.

Mr. Lere Olayinka, the Senior Special Assistant to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, confirmed the occurrence of the collapse in a statement issued from Abuja. He noted that ambulances were also present at the scene to handle any medical emergencies that might arise during the ongoing rescue efforts.

While there have been no reports of casualties so far, the situation remains fluid as rescue teams continue their work. Olayinka emphasized that the building had been sealed by the FCTA Development Control earlier on Monday, following concerns regarding its structural integrity, and occupants were instructed to vacate the premises.

“We are currently assessing the situation and ensuring that all necessary emergency protocols are followed to safeguard lives,” Olayinka stated.
