Ebonyi Governor Nwifuru Issues Ultimatum to Council Chairmen Over 2027 Elections

Ebonyi State Governor Francis Nwifuru has issued a stern warning to the newly elected local government chairpersons, declaring that any failure to deliver an electoral victory for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 elections will lead to their removal from office. The governor made this declaration during the inauguration ceremony of the chairpersons and vice-chairpersons for the state's 13 local government areas in Abakaliki.

Nwifuru emphasized the accountability of the council chairpersons, stating that they would be directly responsible for the performance of the APC in their respective localities. He remarked, “Any chairman who fails to win his council will be removed from office and replaced with a councillor. I want this information to be on the headlines of newspapers because, as politicians, we would not speak in secret.” This public ultimatum underscores the seriousness with which the governor views the upcoming elections.
