Dr. Nwanku Celebrates Birthday with ₦1 Million Quiz Competition for Ebonyi Students
In a remarkable display of commitment to academic excellence, Dr. Ofobuike Nwanku has brought together 176 students from 27 secondary schools in Ebonyi State for a quiz competition with a total prize pool of ₦1 million. The event, which coincided with his birthday, aims to encourage educational development among the youth in the region.

Dr. Ofobuike Nwanku, a medical professional based in the United Kingdom and the Chief Executive Officer of Moxie Homes & Properties Ltd in Abuja, celebrated his birthday in a unique way this year by hosting the third edition of the Dr. Ofobuike Nwanku Foundation quiz competition. Held on October 10, 2026, at the Government Technical College in Abakaliki, the event attracted 176 students from 27 secondary schools across Ebonyi State, all vying for a share of ₦1 million in prizes.
The competition is designed to promote academic excellence and enhance educational development in the state, aligning with Dr. Nwanku's childhood promise to recognize and reward scholarly achievements. This year, the quiz consisted of 50 objective questions covering English Language, Mathematics, and General Knowledge, ensuring a comprehensive assessment of the students' knowledge. Participation was free, allowing a wide range of students to engage in this enriching experience.
Chima Testimony Ugomsinachi of King David Gifted Academy emerged as the overall champion, walking away with ₦500,000, while Nwafor Isioma Celine from St. Theresa’s Secondary School secured second place with ₦300,000. Obu David Chigozie, also from King David Gifted Academy, finished third and earned ₦200,000. The Programme Director, Comrade Polycarp Obinna Alegu, expressed satisfaction with the event's organization and transparency, highlighting the positive feedback from teachers who accompanied their students.
“This competition not only rewards students but also fosters a culture of reading and learning in our community,” Alegu remarked. “We are proud to support the educational aspirations of our youth.”
As the quiz competition continues to grow in popularity, it emphasizes the importance of education in shaping the future of Ebonyi State, inspiring students to strive for academic excellence and personal development.
