In a landmark move for Nigeria’s financial landscape, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, the President and Chief Executive Officer of Dangote Industries Limited, has unveiled the Initial Public Offering (IPO) for Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals, FZE, which is set to raise N2.2 trillion. This historic initiative was announced during the 'Facts Behind the Offer' presentation and opening gong ceremony in Lagos, marking a pivotal moment for both the Nigerian capital market and the continent's industrial ambitions.

The IPO encompasses 4.1 billion new ordinary shares priced at N525 each, with a minimum subscription requirement of 10 shares, amounting to N5,250. The offer is scheduled to close on October 13, as detailed in the prospectus provided to potential investors. Dangote emphasized that this IPO represents more than just a financial transaction; it is a transformative opportunity for wealth creation among Nigerians and a chance for global investors to engage with one of Africa's most significant industrial projects.

“What initially belongs to a country, begins in a deeper sense, now belongs to the people,” Dangote stated, highlighting the inclusive nature of the IPO. He expressed optimism that this initiative would broaden the ownership of major industrial assets, thereby fostering economic growth and prosperity for the nation. “Today is such a moment; today is a historic day,” he remarked, underlining the IPO's potential impact on the economy.

Moreover, the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX) Chairman reinforced the IPO's role in showcasing the capacity of Nigeria's capital market to support businesses at a global scale. The Dangote Group's commitment to this venture is seen as a significant step towards enhancing local participation in wealth generation and providing a platform for investors to partake in Africa's industrial evolution.
