Clarification on Obi-Soludo Family Ties: No Godparent Relationship Confirmed

In a recent statement, Daniel Ezeigwe, the media aide to Anambra State First Lady Nonye Soludo, has addressed the confusion surrounding the godparent relationship between former Governor Peter Obi and the Soludo family. This clarification comes in response to a video that surfaced online, in which Obi suggested that he and his wife serve as godparents to the children of the current governor, Chukwuma Soludo.

Ezeigwe emphasized that the reality of the relationship is quite different. He noted that while Nonye Soludo is indeed the confirmation godmother to Obi's daughter, Margaret Obi serves as the baptismal godmother to one of Soludo’s daughters. “Mr Peter Obi is not a godfather to any of the children of Professor Chukwuma and Dr Nonye Soludo,” Ezeigwe stated firmly.

The aide further clarified that there has been no godparenting arrangement between the two families, despite a cordial relationship existing between them. “It is possible that Mr Peter Obi simply misspoke in the course of making his remarks,” Ezeigwe added, as he sought to rectify the misinformation circulating in the media.

This clarification comes after Obi's remarks at the 22nd Conference of the Nigerian Guild of Editors in Enugu, where he described his relationship with Soludo as close, despite their political differences. The comments have sparked considerable inquiry, prompting the need for this official statement to set the record straight.
