ADC Affirms Participation in 2027 Elections Amidst INEC's Controversial Moves

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has officially announced its intention to participate in the 2027 general elections, dismissing any notions of a boycott in light of perceived provocations from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). This declaration was made by Chizy Enyi, the State Publicity Secretary of the ADC, during a press briefing held in Port Harcourt.

Enyi expressed the party's readiness to confront any illegitimate actions that could undermine the electoral process, emphasizing their commitment to ensuring that the will of the people is respected. He articulated the party's concerns regarding the transparency and operational integrity of INEC, which has been called into question following recent administrative changes within the electoral body.

Highlighting specific issues, Enyi pointed to the unexpected redeployment of key electoral officers across local government areas in Rivers State. The ADC has raised alarms regarding the transfer of seven officials, demanding clarification from the national body on whether such decisions are uniquely affecting Rivers State or a wider pattern.

Despite these challenges, the ADC maintains a resolute stance against any form of electoral malpractice. Enyi reiterated, "We will not boycott the 2027 polls despite INEC's provocations. We are fully ready to resist any form of illegality at the polls to ensure the will of the people is not subverted by INEC or any political grouping, or the Rainbow Coalition."
